The HyperSloth Happy Hour with ZigZag and Rufus

Settled on a name (for the time being) for my new radio show on BlogTalkRadio.com… The HyperSloth Happy Hour with ZigZag and Rufus!!!

The show features myself, Clif “Rufus” Haley and my cohort in crime and co-founder of the legendary band HyperSloth Dom “ZigZag” Iemma. The format is casual and conversational comedy touching on such riveting topics as music, beer, food, drugs, work, and anything else we think might be amusing. The hope is to avoid any serious, controversial crap but just hang out and yuk it up with ourselves and anyone who wants to join. Feel free to listen LIVE every Tuesday and Thursday at 5:30pm CST!

Perfect Strangers Theme Song Cover

This morning I quickly learned the theme song to the 80′s show Perfect Strangers, one of the better shows from that era and with one of the better theme songs. I shot a quick webcam video of it just so I could hear it back to be sure I was getting it right.

I thought the vocals on the webcam video were too quiet, so I thought I’d export the audio file from Windows Movie Maker and import it into my professional recording software just to see if I could bump up the frequencies where the vocals reside. That’s when things got out of hand…

Over an hour later I had added percussion, two guitars, bass guitar, and three vocal tracks.

I then re-imported it to the original webcam recording. It still sounds pretty bad since I didn’t play with a metronome or even tune my guitar (vocals sound flat), but still pretty neat…

My Son Looks Like Me…Whew!

I told my 4-year-old son to stand still for a snapshot today which, by some miracle, he actually did. The picture looked a bit familiar to me…

Colored Line Drawings in Photoshop

This weekend I scanned in a bunch of drawings I did back in high school circa 1990 – most of them during Algebra class, I’m pretty sure – and colored them in using Photoshop. These pictures are almost 25 years old. The paper had aged a lot and was creased, stained, and had a bit of moisture damage. I actually think those imperfections give the images some nice character.

Not sure where the inspiration for this came from...

Still relevant today I dare say.

At some point I got good at drawing boards and wood planks so I drew a lot of pictures involving those items.

In high school, if I wasn't drawing I was playing guitar...guitar won that battle. I still play guitar, but never draw any more.

This was actually a picture on the cover of an old Conan comic that I thought was cool so I drew it.

Alert: New Job!

An amusing stock photo from Dreamstime.com.

If any of you have been wondering where I’ve been the past several weeks, and I know many of you have since the police have stop by my house almost daily asking me if I was “okay” because my WordPress buddies keep calling in missing persons reports on me, well I’m back…if only for a quick, brief post.

The scoop is that I got a new job and I’ve been busting about 99.9% of my ass at it which has left only 0.1% of ass to do anything else with. This is fine, because my job is great.

I am now SEO Director for one of the largest stock photos websites in the galaxy: Dreamstime.com. And as you can see  from the keyword anchored, dofllow link in that last sentence…even when I’m not working I’m working.

Dreamstime.com is a website that offers hi-res stock photography and illustrations for all of your various web and print design needs from promotional banners to “lost dog” posters…assuming your dog has ever modeled for one of the stock photos we sell.

But it’s not only a great place to buy stock images (15 million, or so, of them) it’s a great place for photographers to hang out and talk shop about being shutterbugs.

So long story short web and graphic designers, bloggers, writers, and other buddies out there…get your stock photos from Dreamstime.com!
